Ravalli County Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence
The goal of the Ravalli County Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence is to create a coordinated community response to domestic and sexual violence in Ravalli County, Montana. The Coalition works to end intimate partner and sexual violence in our community through collaborative intervention, prevention, and primary prevention projects. The Coalition gathers quarterly to network, share information, provide training, identify community needs, and explore ways to end domestic and sexual violence.
Coalition committees also meet regularly to address and work on specific priority areas. Current Coalition priority areas include:
The Coalition supports efforts to reduce the impact of homelessness on those experiencing domestic or sexual violence. Domestic violence is one of the leading causes of homelessness for women and children in our nation and in Ravalli County. In addition, experiencing homelessness increases the risk of being victimized by domestic or sexual violence. Working to increase housing options for survivors increases the likelihood that survivors are able to live violence-free
The Coalition works to increase access to economic opportunities for survivors of domestic and sexual violence by encouraging the development of flexible work programs, increased employment and training opportunities for survivors and by providing training for employers who want to know how best to support survivors in the workplace.
Offender Intervention and Accountability:
The Coalition works to decrease the incidence and impact of domestic and sexual violence by working to develop a program that will provide offenders the opportunity to learn more about domestic and sexual violence and the impact of violence on children and survivors.
